Collecting Art Should Be Fun and Easy!

A long time ago a friend of mine told me that I was actually an art collector.

I thought, "who me??" I was young, in my twenties and thought no. way. You have have to be wealthy, sophisticated, have a fine arts degree. Nope. You don't. Take it from me who was none of those things! Below are my 3 never fails when it comes to becoming an art collector.

1. Purchase What You Like

Did that sketch at the art fair make you smile? Get it. Did that painting you found on vacation make you feel happy? Buy it. How about that special painting you saw at your local gallery, the one that you couldn't stop thinking about? Purchase it. No one is going to judge you for what makes you happy. And if they do, so what? You are the one sprinkling your home with art that you love, "they" aren't!

2. Don't Overthink it

I've had so many people tell me that they have missed out on getting a piece of art they love because they couldn't figure out where it would go in their space. I say DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT so much, LOL!! Seriously, if the piece is within your budget get it. You won't regret it.

3. Have Fun

Life is too short to overthink things like buying art you like! I have not regretted a single art purchase I have made over the years. I buy what makes me smile like this cool bird that keeps his eye on things around here or feel nostalgic about something like a landscape that reminds me of my hometown. As you begin collecting, you'll find that the art you collect will tell your story...and that is super fun!
